At the end of September and early October 2022, the Twic conflict between the Dinka Twic and Dinka Ngok started to surge again specifically in Aneet resulting in displacement and conflict-impact in southern Abyei and in Twic county, Warrap state.
Humanitarian access to the communities remains a challenge and the Protection Cluster team that visited the conflict-affected area in October identified unaddressed humanitarian needs across all sectors and advocated with the ICCG for support. Prevention and conflict resolution, as well as preparedness for an eventual further rise in conflict need to be priorities in the conflict-stricken areas.
