The Global Protection Cluster makes strategic use of deployments of experienced professionals to establish field protection clusters in new emergencies or to support already existing clusters improve their response capacity.
The GPC support missions include gap-fill, surge capacity, and emergency deployments to issues or situations faced in the field through its team of roving experts.
- Field mission (up to 4 weeks) comprises of one or two individuals who provide broad coordination support on general issues related to the six core functions of the cluster.
- Field deployment (more than 4 weeks) comprises of one individual who is deployed to a field protection cluster in order to provide technical assistance and coordination guidance that is not available in the country of operation. The field deployment can also fill a temporary gap in the coordination team.
- Remote mission (dedicated support) comprises one or several individuals working at the global level who are dedicated to a field protection cluster in order to provide surge capacity on coordination, information management and analysis, advocacy functions or a thematic issue.
