Introduction to the Protection Field Coordination Toolkit

This Toolkit can be used by all Protection Clusters and cluster-like mechanisms – such as Protection Sectors and Protection Working Groups - working within interagency response settings. This guidance is also available to partners and other organisations who want to understand the principles and practices of protection coordination.  

This Toolkit is made up of 12 chapters - which will guide you through the humanitarian coordination system, the expectations of cluster coordination teams, and key concepts in humanitarian action. It provides guidance, tools, templates, and examples to be used to support coordination teams to deliver on all core functions of cluster work. The document also provides information and links on core interagency policies, reference documents and practice, including IASC guidance, GPC materials and resources and partner resources.

The Toolkit works alongside the following resources that have been developed by the GPC to support protection coordination teams deliver on the 6+1 core functions of cluster coordination.

The GPC wishes to express our gratitude to all partners, task teams and working groups who have participated in the development of this toolkit, or whose resources we have drawn on to provide guidance for the clusters.
