Tip Sheet - How to Mainstream Mine Action and Integrate Explosive Ordnance Risk Education in Camp Coordination and Camp Management

Explosive ordnance (a term used to describe ammunition and weapons containing explosives) are present in many displacement contexts worldwide, endangering both displaced populations and local communities. In the Sahel and the Horn of Africa, the presence of explosive ordnance affects the safety of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and other people on the move. In Ukraine, Gaza, and Yemen, active conflicts have led to heavy contamination with associated risks.

By working together and strengthening collaboration across sectors, these risks can be mitigated. This is why the GICHD, the Mine Action Area of Responsibility (MA AoR), and the Global CCCM Cluster released a new resource aimed at further mainstreaming mine action and integrating Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) into CCCM approaches. This collaboration tip sheet includes key information, examples, and highlights practical ways to support further integration of EORE and achieve safer environments for all.
