Dear colleagues,

The Global Protection Cluster invites you to the tenth session of the GPC 2026 Protection Series.

AI is already shaping who is registered, prioritised or flagged in humanitarian response. Often the tool belongs to a donor, agency or supplier, and the people affected never know it was used. This session gives protection staff practical ways to respond.

You will leave able to:

  • Recognise where AI may already be shaping decisions in your work
  • Judge what level of governance an AI system needs, based on its risk to people
  • Use the SAFE AI Transparency Card to record what a system does, who is accountable, and how people can challenge a decision
  • Decide what to tell communities about AI use without exposing them to further harm

The SAFE AI Initiative, stewarded by CDAC Network, will lead the session. The SAFE AI Framework is free to use. No technical knowledge of AI is needed. You will work through a mock case together, using live polls and the chat.

Date: 11 November, 2.00 – 3.00 pm Geneva time (60 minutes), online

This event is public and open to all.

When you register, we will ask short questions about how your organisation tells communities about AI use. Anonymised results will help shape the next version of the Framework.

Partners interested in presenting tools, guidance, research, or emerging protection topics as part of the 2026 Protection Series are encouraged to get in touch with [email protected] for more information.
