The Global Protection Cluster is pleased to invite you to the seventh session of the GPC 2026 Protection Series. The Protection Series is a public, protection practitioner-driven learning initiative designed to strengthen protection practice across the humanitarian system.
Throughout 2026, protection partners across the globe will be invited to join webinars that are provided by protection actors showcasing tools, guidance and research that aim to improve protection outcomes in humanitarian action. This series will remind us of existing best practice and bring emerging approaches and evolving protection issues to the attention of the wider protection network.
In this session, Global Protection Cluster will present the Protection Mainstreaming Toolkit. Published in 2018, the Protection Mainstreaming Toolkit was developed by the GPC Task Team on Protection Mainstreaming and it is the cornerstone of Protection Cluster engagement in mainstreaming activities. This session will also present the Working Across Sectors Training Package that dives into Child Protection mainstreaming specifically within CCCM, Education, Food Security and Nutrition; as well as share guidelines and practices in how to reduce GBV risks in humanitarian action.
The event will take place virtually on Tuesday 29 September 14:00 – 15:30 pm (Geneva time).
The Protection Mainstreaming Resources offer practical and accessible tools that can be used by protection practitioners, and non-protection practitioners alike. This session will:
- Familiarise people with core concepts, roles and responsibilities for mainstreaming, and explain how the Protection Mainstreaming toolkit can be used across the programme cycle.
- Introduce child protection focused resources such as mainstreaming checklists and Thematic Area Guides, and Safe Identification and Referral Training Module, in addition to a Child Safeguarding Training Module for non-child protection actors (which can be found here).
- Share experiences and resources from GBV practitioner’s on how to reduce GBV risk during humanitarian programming.
