GPC 2026 Protection Series - ICRC Professional Standards for Protection Work

In this event, Konrad Bark and Maria Carolina Aissa de Figueredo from ICRC presented the revised Professional Standards for Protection Work (PSPW) (fourth edition, 2024).

The Professional Standards for Protection Work are a set of common professional ethics designed to make protection work safer and more effective. They establish a baseline to ensure a high level of professionalism, benefiting both affected civilians and the community of protection actors. Unlike other reference documents, the Standards specifically target protection workers and organizations involved in protection work, contributing to better programme design and implementation.

This event is part of the GPC 2026 Protection Series. The Protection Series is a public, practitioner-driven learning initiative designed to strengthen protection practice across the humanitarian system. Throughout 2026, protection partners across the globe will be invited to join webinars that are provided by protection actors showcasing tools, guidance and research that aim to improve protection outcomes in humanitarian action. This series will remind us of existing best practice, and bring emerging approaches and evolving protection issues to the attention of the wider protection network.
