Protecting the Most Vulnerable in South Sudan - An Interactive Data Story

Since gaining independence in 2011, South Sudan has faced overlapping crises – intercommunal violence, armed conflict, displacement, flooding, and food insecurity. These challenges continue to affect millions, especially the most vulnerable, including women, children, and displaced communities.

This new Data Visualisation Story offers an in-depth, interactive look at the crisis through the lens of 15 key protection risks. Powered by the Protection Risk Monitoring System (PRMS) and built with community input, the story shows where people are affected, what risks they face, and how humanitarian actors are responding.

From gender-based violence to forced evictions, child marriage to access barriers, the PRMS offers a people-centred way to measure risk severity, track needs, and support targeted protection interventions.
