Agenda Highlights of the Online Global Event:
- Keynote address by the Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights of Internally Displaced Persons, Paula Gaviria
- Moderated panel discussion including Francis M Deng, the first Representative of the UN Secretary-General on Internally Displaced Persons and under whose guidance the Guiding Principles were developed. Mr. Deng will be joined alongside his former Senior Adviser, Roberta Cohen.
- Panelists will also include representatives of government, civil society, and internally displaced persons, as well as Cecilia Jimenez and Chaloka Beyani - both former Special Rapporteurs and members of the IDP Protection Expert Group.
- Closing remarks by the Special Adviser to the UN SG on Solutions to Internal Displacement, Robert Piper
- The event will be moderated by Sam Cheung, Global Protection Cluster Coordinator
