This opening ceremony will launch the Thematic Segment of the 2022 Global Protection Forum. The one-hour session will frame the Forum’s focus on access that protects and examine why protection should be placed at the core of humanitarian access. It will attract participants to the coming week’s sessions and highlight the role of the Forum as a consultative process to develop messages and learnings around access.
Moderated by Bernadette Castel-Hollingsworth, Deputy Director of the Division of International Protection UNHCR, the Ceremony will include a Keynote Speech from Ramesh Rajasingham, Director of Coordination, UNOCHA, a video from the Protection Cluster in South Sudan, and a panel discussion featuring Tiffany Easthom, Executive Director of Nonviolent Peaceforce, Hichem Khadhraoui, Head of Operations at Geneva Call and Sameera Noori, Deputy Director General of the Citizens' Organization for Advocacy & Resilience, Afghanistan. Closing remarks will be from Samuel Cheung, Global Protection Cluster Coordinator.
