Unarmed Civilian Protection/Accompaniment: Preventing violence and proactive protection for and with those most impacted by conflict and crisis

The number of people fleeing their homes or living in fear and deprivation because of violence and climate disruption is soaring.

Unarmed Civilian Protection/Accompaniment (UCP/A) is an unarmed, civilian led approach that has been proven to reduce violence, increase the safety and security of civilians and to sustainably contribute to long term human security in complex crisis and violent conflicts throughout the world.

In this event, practitioners, people directly protecting themselves and their own communities and researchers will share experiences and present evidenced-based examples of how (UCP/A) has proven itself to be effective and affordable in diverse contexts such as Ukraine, South Sudan, Colombia and the United States.
