Each year, the Global Protection Cluster organises a virtual Global Protection Forum with partners and field coordinators to review emerging challenges, lessons and opportunities in relation to the protection of communities affected by conflict and disaster. The public Forum is open to the broader protection community and serves as a platform for dialogue on current protection priorities. Several sessions are organised through an online platform with simultaneous interpretation in English, French, Spanish and Arabic.
Global Protection Forum 2025
The Global Protection Forum took place from 10-14 November 2025. It included an opening session and 5 core sessions. The Forum focused on the protection space within the context of 'hyper-prioritized' humanitarian responses, funding cuts and reform process such as the Humanitarian Reset, while humanitarian crises were marked by rising levels of violence against civilians and disregard for international law and humanitarian principles.
Global Protection Forum 2024
The Global Protection Forum took place from 04 - 13 November 2024. It included an opening ceremony, six core sessions and two interactive spaces. The theme of the Forum emphasized the critical need to prioritise communities as the cornerstone of all protection efforts.
Global Protection Forum 2023
The 2023 Global Protection Forum took place from 23 October to 02 November. It included an opening ceremony, six core sessions and two interactive spaces. The Forum focused on the range of protection approaches and interventions being advanced by protection actors in support of prevention of and response to violence, conflict, and human rights abuses.
Global Protection Forum 2022
The 2022 Global Protection Forum took place from 24-28 October 2022. The Forum focused on access for protection, bringing together leading partners to focus on contexts where protection work is being challenged at its foundation due to constraints to access, exacerbating certain protection risks and trends, as well as highlighting some of the ways we can collectively strengthen access for protection looking at leverage points across policy and practice dimensions.
Global Protection Forum 2021
The Global Protection Forum took place from 25-29 October 2021. It included several sessions on current protection priorities, discuss emerging issues. This forum was also an opportunity to showcase frontline work, review the new direction, hear from local voices and engage with donors.
Global Protection Forum 2020
In 2020, the Global Protection Forum brought together 3000 experts from 30+ operations to discuss real time protection challenges, share experiences and provide strategic direction for protection actors and the Global Protection Cluster.
