Samuel Cheung has assumed responsibilities as Global Protection Cluster Coordinator, ad interim as of 1 October. Samuel brings senior leadership experience to the Global Protection Cluster, having served as Chief of the Internal Displacement Section for UNHCR since 2020. He has spent more than two decades in the field in the capacities of protection and cluster coordination, including in Yemen, Lebanon, Libya and Iraq, as well as postings in Asia, Africa and the US. His articles on displacement and refugees have been published in the Oxford Journal of Refugee Studies and the Forced Migration Review, among others. He holds a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy from Duke University.
