The sixth and closing session of the Global Protection Forum 2023 was organised by OCHA, UNHCR, ICRC and Article36.
This session focused on preventing the use of explosive weapons in populated areas given the recently adopted Political Declaration on Strengthening the Protection of Civilians from the Humanitarian Consequences Arising from the Use of Explosive Weapons in Populated Areas and the Protection Cluster’s role in supporting its implementation. It spoke to the humanitarian impacts of EWIPA use as witnessed by protection actors on the ground, including for humanitarian access.
